| Abstract: | This research aims at the performance evaluation of the network arch bridge, when subjected to dead load, and earthquake forces. For this purpose, Nepal’s first ever Network Arch Bridge located at Bijuli Bazar over Dhobi khola is selected. The finite element modeling of Two Network Arch Bridge, one with Lead Rubber Isolator and another without Isolator, and with same cross-section and materials is done in the finite element analysis based program SAP2000 (V 23.3.1). The responses of both seismically isolated and non isolated bridges are studied and check the effectiveness of the seismic isolators. To carry out this procedure, seven different earthquakes are considered for the non-linear time history analysis of the bridge. Model Validation was done by using Android app (Phyphox) called VibSensor. Data was measured at different locations of the bridge and fast Fourier transform is conducted using MATLAB coding Analysis results show that the isolated bridge with Lead Rubber Bearings has a good seismic isolation effect under earthquake force. The average difference in base shear between Isolated and Non-Isolated Bridge model is about 27.5%. Similarly, the fundamental period of the isolated bridge is found to be extended by almost 1.91 times the fundamental period. |
