dc.description.abstractThe irregular building has seen a significant rise in popularity due to aesthetic requirements and limited land availability. Past studies have shown that irregular buildings essive damaged than regular buildings. Reinforced concrete frame structures are designed as a bare frame where infill walls are neglected. However, ignoring the infill wall effects does not reflect the real behavior of the structural system. This study aims to demonstrate the seismic behaviour of regular and re-entrant corner irregular structures and the effect of masonry infill on seismic performance of the structure. One regular and six different proportion re-entrant corner irregular building of bare frames and infilled frames were modelled for three, five and seven storey. The infilled frame was modelled as an equivalent diagonal strut. The Equivalent static method and response spectrum analysis method were used for the analysis. The result shows that the plan geometry significantly impacts the seismic performance of the building. The addition of the infill wall stiffness causes a significant enhancement of the seismic performance of the structure. The contribution of the infill wall stiffness is decreasing with an increase in the irregularity of the building plan shape and decreased with an increase in height of the building.-
