Abstract: As for the past years, the built environment at the present is very different. It lacks a sense of continuity and a greater amount of social milieu in the name of modernization. Throughout history, the public realm and nodes have been taken as a communal space, sense of assembly, markets, and place of business. Not only is the public realm used for the social milieu, but from the recent earthquake, we can experience a lack of these spaces in each community where we can excavate safely. It is a step towards improving the architecture and the urban character of one of the urban nodes of Kathmandu. The rapid change in the population inside the city has been creating heavy traffic congestion in the junctions like New Baneshwor, Thapathali, Tripureshwor, and Kalimati. The pedestrian traffic has also been high in those junctions. In these places, there is a lack of open spaces. The lack of open public spaces and greeneries in such public nodal situations give a negative impact on the urban environment. The project related to improvement for the minimizing the traffic congestion certainly improves the traffic system but it again lacks the interaction of the pedestrian with the community. The elements of the urban like buildings, open spaces, public realm, and transportation system should be combined as one. Besides the traffic and public space, the metro project inside the Kathmandu valley has been a dream project of every citizen living here. The metro line coincides with the major nodes of the valley. The metro in the valley runs through the overhead bridge as well as the underground subway line. The metro in the valley also tends to decrease the public transport on the road and can also lead to less traffic flow on it. The metro line will bring up the interchange in the transport where the stations as located which demands more on the public spaces. The project investigates the problem of traffic congestion and develops the potential landmark for the urban open space for the city as an image of the city. It also exercises on the prototype of the development of the station for the station within the built space which adds up to the economic flow to the built-up areas.
