Abstract: Nepal is a multi-ethnic, multi linguistic and multi-cultural country. Among numerous examples, Nepal is known for their cultures and the festivals, the way they celebrated it. The dance and music of the country has its own local cultural identity. Nepali music is one of the essential elements of nepali people which is played from the birth of people till their dead. It was highly flourished on medieval period, but with the change of time prideful cultural heritage is going on diminishing due to external influence of foreign culture and lifestyle, lack of knowledge of importance and value of own traditions and also due to social negligence. Due to many reasons the values are also degrading. In order to preserve these invaluable intangible cultural heritages, an institutional approach is necessary that can preserve and propagate Nepali Dance and at the same time attract the new generation on this field. Thus, the "Dance Academy" is an approach for such an endeavor. In order to gain pre-requisite information for the desired project, case studies were done on Padma Kanya Campus, Kala Academy, Raastriya Naachghar, Nepal Academy, Sushila Art Academy, Triveni Kala Sangam etc. The site was chosen just at the hills of the Kirtipur, Balkhu. The site has fairly easy access and comfortable site topography. Kirtipur is well known for its rich culture and architecture The state of Newar Music and Dance is relatively well preserved in Kathmandu and hence the site could grab these practical advantages of environment at immediate vicinity. It is rich in its traditional music and dance. With the change of time newari and nepali dance and music is at the stage of disappearing. Thus, Dance Academy plays vital role in conserving the local nepali culture. Thus, this dance and music reflect life to nepali culture and their lifestyle.
