There is a close relation between increment of transportation (roads and vehicles) and socioeconomic development of the nation. In the context of Nepal, transport system has not been well developed in Nepal due to mountainous topography, landlocked topography, backward technology and poor economic condition. However, road transportation is the most suitable system of transport in context of Nepal. The project "Detailed Engineering Survey, Design and Cost Estimation of Sanga to Tathali Road" aims to do geometric design and construct roadway connecting Sanga to Tathali, facilitating local agricultural and production area. The Sanga to Tathali road lies in Bhaktapur district under Suryabinayak Municipality. The starting point of our Class IV District Road for this project is Sanga Bus Stop and the ending point is Tathali Health Post approximately covering a distance of 4+454 kms. The carriage way width is 5.5m and has DBST pavement. The project involves complete surveying of project area using Total Station, GNSS device and pavement design was carried out following Road Note 31 guidelines. The road's plan and profile, along with cross-sections at 20m intervals were designed in SW-ROAD, incorporating necessary retaining structures and drainage facilities. Other softwares like Google Earth Pro, AUTOCAD, MS-Office tools etc. were also used. Finally after quantity and cost estimation Total Cost of Project including VAT was obtained as Rs. 185,165,797.52 and cost per km as Rs. 41,572,922.66. Thus, this report emphasis on the importance of road and the design, analysis and cost estimation of the Sanga Tathali Road as well as the different component of roads, factor affecting the design and advantages, problems encountered during the works of this project.-
