Nepal's musical traditions are deeply rooted in its ethnic and geographic diversity, with each community contributing unique rhythms, instruments, and stories passed down through generations. Despite this richness, Nepal lacks a dedicated space that both preserves and celebrates its musical legacy. As modernization and globalization shift cultural priorities, the need for an institution that safeguards traditional knowledge while fostering contemporary expression becomes increasingly urgent. This thesis proposes the Nepali Music Center's a multi-functional cultural complex that serves as a national archive, performance venue, music academy, and public hub. The design includes a main concert hall for contemporary artists, a smaller venue for classical and folk performances, and an amphitheater for large outdoor events. Supporting spaces include a museum of Nepali music history, interactive audio-visual exhibits, instrument restoration and research labs, classrooms, jam rooms, and conference spaces for community events. Together, these programs create a space that is both educational and experiential, where visitors can explore Nepal's sonic heritage while actively participating in its future. The architectural approach is inspired by the concept of Cultural Layering, where each zone of the center draws from a distinct musical culturesuch as Gandharva, Tamang, Newar, Tharu, or Sherpa traditionsresulting in a spatial narrative that feels both rooted and dynamic. Materiality, form, and sensory design elements reflect these diverse identities, offering an immersive experience that blurs the line between museum and living archive. The Nepali Music Center envisions a future where tradition and innovation harmonizeproviding a landmark that celebrates music not as a static artifact, but as a living, evolving force that unites generations and communities across Nepal.-
